The City of Boise has a community survey up soliciting neighborhood input for their planned mixed use / affordable housing project at the old Smokey Davis property.
I am going to encourage all my readers to go give their input. This is exactly the sort of development that will meet a need for affordable housing, as well as add some retail space, and more importantly, spurring other growth on the State Street Corridor.
On a side note, I spoke to Heidi Ramos earlier today about her and her husbands plan for a food truck park called Cart Life. This is another one of those great projects that I support. Not only will it provide yummy food, it’s an innovative idea by local business owners. Heidi also owns the Big O Tire franchise across the street in the Collister Center, which coincidentally the place where I take all my cars too. And I have a lot.
This isn’t just going to be a parking lot with food trucks. They are also going to have a Tavern with outdoor and indoor seating. Heidi hopes they will draw not only the lunch time crowd, but it will be a bicycle and pedestrian destination for people using the greenbelt.
I can see big things happening for State Street in the future. We need to stay engaged.
